One True Loves (2023)
“I love you past forever.”
Let me preface this by saying, I haven’t read the book yet. I desperately want to, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Now, let me add on by saying, LUKE BRACEY IS SO HOT OMIGOD.
The movie itself wasn’t bad. I have no idea if it stuck to the book at all, but as a standalone, it was interesting. The story follows a woman named Emma whose husband disappears in the Pacific Ocean after a helicopter crash. Four years later, Emma has moved on and is engaged when her husband returns. Now she has to choose between her first love and the man who pulled her out of the darkness.
Now, a quick teeny, tiny spoiler – Emma, girl, you left Luke Bracey to be with a man who broke his phone in anger not once but TWICE. Then has a deeply inappropriate rant to his students about your love life because he has no friends. Red flags, my girl, red flags galore. 4/5.
Last Action Hero (1993)
“Well I’m sorry to disappoint you but you’re gonna live to enjoy all the glorious fruits life has got to offer – acne, shaving, premature ejaculation… and your first divorce.”
While normal girls my age seem to be going through their Taylor Swift phase, I’m apparently going through an Arnold Schwarzenegger phase.
I made one comment about how I’ve never seen an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie and now we’re on an Arnold Schwarzenegger binge-watch.
But I’m happy to report, none of them have been bad. Last Action Hero follows a young movie fan who, with the help of a magic ticket, is transported into the fictional world of his favourite action hero, Jack Slater, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Talk about movie-ception.
I think that’s another reason why I liked this movie so much. Similarly to Scream, it delves into the nuances of what it’s like to be a movie fan and how desperately we’d all love to be sucked into the world of our favourite movies.
The movie received mixed reviews upon its release, with a Rotten Tomato score of only 40%, but has gained a cult following over the years. It remains a notable entry in the action-comedy genre, offering a unique and entertaining experience for both action movie enthusiasts and those looking for a light-hearted and self-aware adventure.
4/5.
Doctor Who Season 4 (2008)
“Allons-y”
This season will always have a special place in my heart as Donna is my favourite companion so far. Played by Catherine Tate, Donna Noble is spunky and her chemistry with the Tenth Doctor injects a refreshing energy into the show. Their banter, camaraderie, and heartfelt moments create a unique dynamic that keeps viewers hooked from the start.
This season takes us on a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. From parallel universes to encounters with ancient civilizations and intergalactic conflicts, each episode presents a gripping narrative that combines science fiction, drama, and elements of comedy. Standout episodes like “Midnight” and “Turn Left” demonstrate the show’s ability to tackle thought-provoking themes while keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.
This season also introduced us to the Ood as well as the enigmatic and mysterious River Song, played by Alex Kingston.
All in all, this season gets a 5/5 from me.
Black Mirror Season 6 (2023)
My fiancé suggested I make this review its own post, cause ya girl has THOUGHTS! In the meantime, check out the trailer and give the show a watch.

The Bear Season 1
“I think this place could be so different from all the other places we’ve been at.”
The Bear is a Hulu show created by Christopher Storer about a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his late brother’s run-down sandwich shop.
Did I watch this entire season in one night? Why, yes. Yes, I did. And it was brilliant. If my word isn’t enough, both seasons of this show got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The characters are super lovable, despite their flaws, and the show is gripping and filled with nail-biting tension. It was, pun intended, chef’s kiss. 5/5.
The Bear Season 2 (2023)
“I don’t need you to drink the kool aid, Richie. I just need you to respect me, I need you to respect the diners, and I need you to respect yourself.”
Did I watch this entire season directly after finishing season one and in one week? Why yes, yes I did. And it was freaking awesome!
This season was beautiful, it was emotional, it had a Christmas related episodes jam-packed with star-studded guest stars such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Paulson, John Mulaney, Will Poulter, and Bob Odenkirk, and it had one of the best character arcs since Zuko in Avatar the Last Airbender. 5/5.
Waiting… (2005)
“With women, there are really only two options. Either she doesn’t sleep with you and there’s really no reason to ever call her again. Or she does sleep with you… and there’s really no reason to ever call her again.”
This movie was… a lot. This movie would NEVER have been made today. Ryan Reynold’s plays his same Deadpool-esque role as a character named Monty who works for a popular chain restaurant called Shenaniganz and the movie focuses on him and all the other wait staff as they navigate through the daily grinds of their jobs.
Along with Ryan Reynolds, the movie features Anna Faris, Justin Long, and John Francis Daley.
The movie successfully captures the chaotic and high-pressure nature of working in the service industry. From dealing with demanding customers to navigating the quirky dynamics among co-workers, “Waiting…” presents a relatable experience for anyone who has worked in a restaurant. The film showcases the camaraderie and inside jokes that often form among the staff, adding an authentic touch to the story.
However, Waiting… occasionally falls into predictable and clichéd territory. Some of the jokes and gags rely on crude humour and sexual innuendos, which may not resonate with all viewers. Additionally, the pacing of the film can be uneven at times, with certain scenes feeling dragged out or unnecessary.
It’s worth noting that “Waiting…” may not appeal to everyone’s taste due to its explicit content and over-the-top comedic style. However, for those who enjoy irreverent humour and are familiar with the service industry, the film offers an entertaining and relatable experience. 2.5/5 stars.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

“Chai tea? Chai means “tea”, bro! You are saying “tea tea”! Would I ask you for a “coffee coffee” with room for “cream cream”?”
*spoilers cause your girl has THOUGHTS
The entire experience (because this wasn’t just a movie, this was an experience) literally had me like this:

From Childish Gambino’s cameo to Prowler Miles, this movie had my inner nerd screaming in delight. It had so many nods to the previous movie and possible hints on what is to come. Honestly, I haven’t been this excited for a Marvel movie since Endgame.
The art style is absolutely gorgeous, and due to the fact that they’re exploring so many universes, they were able to really dive in to different and absolutely bizarre art styles. There’s even a lego scene!
They also did the thing! They did the thing!

Now, let’s take a quick stop at the simp portion of this review. Gwen – hot, Hobie – hot, and OMIGOD why did they have to make Miguel so hot! Bro can call me an anomaly any day.
I could honestly talk about this movie for hours and I cannot wait for it to be available on streaming platforms so I can rewatch it. 5/5
Never Have I Ever (Season 1)
“We are smart and idiots are banging all the time, if they can do it we can learn how to do it too.”
I literally had to type this out quickly because I just finished it on the morning that this post is scheduled to go out. And boy, did I love it.
I put off watching this show for the longest time because I figured it was just another teenager show about a horny girl trying to boink all the time ala MTV’s Awkward. And don’t get me wrong, it kinda was. But it was so much more than that.
Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, the series centers around Devi Vishwakumar, portrayed by the talented Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, a smart and ambitious Indian-American teenager navigating the complexities of high school.
The show touches grief, LGBTQI+, family dynamics, and the struggles of straggling multiple cultural identities. It was genuinely funny and even emotional at times. These memorable moments and themes make Never Have I Ever an absolute must-watch. Also Team Ben all the way! 5/5
