Our officiant is one of the members of my theatre club as well as having been an officiant for years. We’re very lucky he’s handling the whole ceremony. Others might not be so lucky.

Below is a general wedding officiant script that you can use as a starting point for your officiant, whether that be a friend or a beloved family member. Feel free to personalize it and make adjustments to fit your preferences and beliefs as a couple.

[Opening]

Good [morning/afternoon/evening], everyone! We are gathered here today to celebrate the love and union of [Partner 1’s Name] and [Partner 2’s Name]. This joyous occasion marks the beginning of their journey together as life partners and soulmates.

Before we proceed, let us take a moment to acknowledge the friends and family who have come from near and far to witness and support this special union. Today, we come together not only to honour the love between [Partner 1’s Name] and [Partner 2’s Name] but also to celebrate the love that surrounds them, which has shaped and nurtured them into the incredible individuals they are today.
