Every bride envisions their wedding day as a magical, picture-perfect moment in their life. While most weddings go off without a hitch, there are often small details that brides wish they could change in hindsight. To help future brides avoid these common regrets, we’ve compiled a list of five things brides regret on their wedding day.

1. Not Hiring a Professional Photographer

This was something that was so important to us and having worked in the wedding industry previously, Jeremy emphasized to me the importance of having a great photographer. One of the most common regrets among brides is not investing in a professional photographer. Your wedding day will be a whirlwind of emotions, and capturing those moments is essential. While friends and family might take decent snapshots, a skilled photographer will capture the essence of the day, from the candid smiles to the intricate details. Investing in a professional photographer ensures you’ll have stunning memories to cherish forever.

2. Overloading the Guest List

It’s tempting to invite everyone you know to celebrate your special day. Initially, Jeremy wanted to invite 150 people. However, in the 2 years we’d been engaged, we managed to whittle it down to 120, then 100, until we eventually got to 60. An overcrowded guest list can lead to regrets. Brides often wish they had kept their wedding more intimate, as a smaller gathering allows for more meaningful interactions with loved ones. Prioritizing quality over quantity can make your wedding day more memorable and less stressful.

3. Not Hiring a Wedding Planner

While mine and Jeremy’s budget does not allow for this, wedding planning can be incredibly overwhelming and many brides find themselves wishing they had hired a wedding planner to ease the burden. A wedding planner can help with logistics, timelines, and vendor coordination, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy your day. Their expertise can also help you avoid costly mistakes.

4. Neglecting Self-Care

In the midst of wedding preparations, brides sometimes forget to take care of themselves. They may regret not prioritizing self-care in the lead-up to the big day. Remember to get enough sleep, eat well, and take time for relaxation and pampering. Feeling your best physically and emotionally will ensure you shine on your wedding day.

5. Not Living in the Moment

The wedding day itself can pass in the blink of an eye. Brides often regret not taking enough time to savor the moment. Amidst the ceremonies, dances, and speeches, make sure to steal moments with your partner to simply absorb the joy and significance of the day. It’s a day you’ll want to remember for the rest of your life.

While every wedding is unique, these common regrets can serve as valuable lessons for brides-to-be. Hiring professionals, curating the guest list, seeking assistance from a wedding planner, prioritizing self-care, and living in the moment can help ensure your wedding day is truly magical and devoid of regrets. Remember, it’s your day, and making it as enjoyable and memorable as possible should be your top priority.
