“I don’t think your brother did it – and I’m going to try to prove it.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve been very behind on my reviews lately, but when I finished this book, I KNEW I had to tell the world about it.
“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” by Holly Jackson is an absolute masterpiece in the young adult thriller genre. I listened to it on audio and from the very beginning, I was hooked by the intriguing premise and the skilful storytelling. Holly Jackson crafts a meticulously plotted mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.
The protagonist, Pip, is a brilliantly written character—intelligent, determined, and incredibly relatable. Her quest to uncover the truth about a five-year-old murder case in her small town is both gripping and thought-provoking. And don’t even get me started on Ravi Singh! The two of them were a dream team and the support they show each other throughout the book is adorable 🥹
What sets this book apart is its attention to detail and the realistic portrayal of investigative journalism. The inclusion of interviews, journal entries, and case notes adds an immersive layer, making the reader feel like a part of Pip’s investigation. The twists and turns are expertly paced, with each revelation leading to more questions, keeping the suspense high throughout.
Moreover, the themes of justice, morality, and the impact of social media are seamlessly integrated into the story, giving it depth and relevance. Jackson also does an excellent job of portraying the emotional weight of the characters’ experiences, making their journey resonate on a personal level. I got so attached to these characters and when the dog died, I actually cried at my desk at work.
“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is a must-read for fans of mystery and thriller novels. While some might not be a fan of the YA aspect, the premise is so intriguing I was able to look past the fact that it was kids trying to solve this murder because their cops were so useless 😂
Highly recommended!
