movie review: truth or dare (2018)

⭐️

What Works:

Tyler Posey & Lucy Hale: They’re doing their best with what they’ve been given, and fans of either actor might find small moments to enjoy.
Unintentional Comedy: If you squint hard enough, the absurdity becomes its own form of entertainment.

What Doesn’t:

Ridiculous Plot: The “demonic game of truth or dare” idea wears thin almost immediately and never manages to build tension.
Goofy Special Effects: The “evil grin” filter is more laughable than scary.
Lazy Writing: Repetitive, illogical, and packed with plot holes—it’s like the script dared itself to make less and less sense.
Tone Confusion: It never fully commits to being campy or serious, leaving it stuck in a bizarre, unwatchable middle ground.

Final Thoughts:

Even for horror fans who enjoy a good B-movie, Truth or Dare might be a bit too much to endure. I dare you to skip it because, truth be told, it could’ve been better.
