Tucked away in the scenic charm of Botha’s Hill, KRISP is a delightful new addition to the local dining scene – and a spot that Jeremy and I were thrilled to try on our recent lunch date.

Starters

We started off with the honey-glazed pork belly bites, which were nothing short of incredible. Perfectly crisp on the outside yet melt-in-your-mouth tender, they were coated in a rich honey and ginger glaze, with just a subtle kick of chilli that rounded out the flavours beautifully. A seriously strong start.

Mains

For mains, Jeremy opted for the traditional lamb curry, which came with all the bells and whistles – and delivered on every front. The lamb was luxuriously soft and tender, soaking up the well-balanced spices in each bite. I went for the 300g sirloin, cooked just right, accompanied by rustic chips and a fresh rocket and parmesan salad that offered a lovely peppery contrast to the richness of the steak.

Drinks

To drink, we both had an espresso martini, which was smooth, perfectly chilled, and easily one of the best we’ve had in a while. I later switched to a mango daiquiri, which was summery and refreshing, while Jeremy’s glass of Terra del Capo Sangiovese was an excellent match for the spiciness of his curry – clearly a thoughtful choice on the wine list.

Service

What really elevated the experience was the atmosphere – warm and welcoming – thanks in large part to the owner himself, who was present on the floor, engaging with guests and clearly passionate about what he’s created. He shared with us how the restaurant had originally aimed to open in early December but only opened in late December due to construction delays. Despite the late start, they’ve been consistently welcoming diners since – and from what we saw, they’ve hit the ground running.

A special shoutout to our waiter, Talent, who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely at home throughout our meal. His service added a personal touch that really enhanced the experience.

KRISP was a fantastic find – excellent food, a well-curated drinks selection, and genuine hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back. Thanks, KRISP!
