I went into this not knowing what to expect. I did not expect to end the movie obsessed with it!
K-Pop: Demon Hunters is exactly what it sounds like, albeit sounding a little silly. It’s an animated action-comedy that follows a globally famous K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, whose off-stage lives involve secretly battling ancient demons threatening to invade the mortal realm. When a demon boy band called the Saja Boys threatens to steal Huntrix’s fans away from them, vocalist Rumi (Arden Cho) and the leader of the boy band, Jinu (Ahn Hyo-seop) go head to head. But they soon find they have more in common than they initially thought. Equal parts magical mayhem and brilliance, the film throws choreographed fights, catchy tracks, and supernatural lore into a blender and somehow it works.

What works:
🎶The animation is slick and vibrant.
🎶The K-pop numbers are bangers (literally Oscar worthy), the humour actually lands (especially if you’re into genre mashups), and the worldbuilding is surprisingly rich. 🎶There’s a clear love for both K-pop culture and monster mythology here, and the result is as fun as it is fresh.

What doesn’t work:
👺The pacing can get a little chaotic.
👺Not every emotional beat fully lands. But honestly? It’s hard to care when you’re watching a demon get roundhouse-kicked to a song that shouldn’t slap as hard as it does!
Bottom Line:
K-Pop: Demon Hunters is delightfully bonkers in the best way. Whether you’re a hardcore K-pop stan or someone who just likes action with a side of glitter and chaos, this is a must-watch. And yes, I’m already streaming the soundtrack on repeat as should you.
